Project Engineer – Maritime Automation Systems (m/f/d)
Northern Germany | Permanent Position

Are you an Electrical Engineer with a passion for automation, complex technical projects, and the maritime industry? We're supporting an established engineering company in Northern Germany that develops advanced automation and control systems for vessels operating around the world.

Tasks

This is an opportunity to take ownership of technically challenging international projects, working from initial design through to commissioning at shipyards and onboard vessels.

What you'll be doing:

⚓ Design and develop integrated maritime automation, monitoring and control systems

⚓ Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams across electrical design, software development and manufacturing

⚓ Work directly with customers to define technical requirements while ensuring compliance with international maritime classification standards

⚓ Manage system integration and coordinate interfaces between multiple onboard systems

⚓ Take responsibility for project delivery, ensuring deadlines, budgets and quality standards are achieved

⚓ Carry out Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and validate hardware and software before delivery

⚓ Travel internationally to commission systems, support sea trials and provide technical expertise on-site

⚓ Produce technical documentation and deliver training to ship crews

Profile

What we're looking for:

✔ Degree or strong background in Electrical Engineering

✔ Experience with electrical automation systems (maritime experience highly desirable)

✔ Experience within shipbuilding, marine engineering or onboard vessel operations is a significant advantage

✔ Basic knowledge of PLC programming

✔ Basic knowledge of EPLAN or other electrical CAD software

✔ German and English (minimum B2 level)

✔ Willingness to travel nationally and internationally for commissioning activities

✔ EU Passport and full driving licence are essential
