We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer (m/f/d) for a client operating in a highly regulated fintech environment. The role focuses on building scalable backend systems, event-driven architectures, and resilient microservices using Kotlin and Spring Boot.

Here are the key details:

- Position: Senior Backend Engineer (m/f/d)

- Start date: ASAP, latest 20.06.2026

- Workload: Full-time, at least 4 days

- Duration: 3 months (with possible Extension)

- Location: 100% remote

- Language: Fluent in English

Aufgaben

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain backend services within a Kotlin/Spring Boot microservices architecture
  • Design and implement scalable event-driven workflows and distributed systems
  • Build and maintain RESTful APIs for internal services and external clients
  • Contribute to workflow orchestration, ledger systems, and backend platform components
  • Ensure system reliability, observability, fault tolerance, and auditability across services
  • Collaborate closely with Product, QA, Security, and Compliance teams in a regulated environment
  • Implement secure authentication and authorization flows using OAuth2/OIDC standards
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to clean architecture, developer experience, and platform improvements

Profil

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Backend Engineer with a strong JVM background
  • Hands-on experience with Kotlin and Spring Boot in production environments
  • Strong understanding of microservices and event-driven architectures
  • Experience with messaging systems and patterns such as idempotency, outbox patterns, and dead-letter handling
  • Strong PostgreSQL experience including schema design, migrations, and performance tuning
  • Experience designing and maintaining RESTful APIs and integrating third-party platforms
